Kitty Bitty, the Stowaway Cat from Georgia

We ended up with another crazy story here at Riverside County Animal Services. In short: This cat ended up in Riverside County after what appears to be a long haul inside a soda truck. The truck originally came from Georgia.

A representative at the company over at Pepsi's Riverside facility contacted us and we rolled out to meet and retrieve the cross-country feline.

Our veterinary services team members examined and treated the cat for dehydration. The cat was also very skinny, a condition likely from lack of nutrition. We are uncertain how long the cat was inside the soda truck.

One cool thing: the cat has a rabies tag and we were able to use that to contact Kitty Bitty's owner in Pooler, Ga., near Savannah. The cat is a 5-year-old domestic short-haired cat. The owner, Teresa Cameron, was excited and dumbfounded to learn of Kitty Bitty's location.

The cat went missing on the Fourth of July. saddening the family, especially her 5-year-old daughter, Ava, who named the cat.

“I can't thank you enough for helping us get Kitty Bitty back to Savannah,” said the cat's owner, Teresa Cameron. “My daughter has been telling me everyday since he's been gone how much she misses him and wishes he would come back. She is over the moon that he has been found!”

Note to media: we are trying to fly the cat to Georgia on Monday, Dec. 18, but we’re still working out the details about that.
