A man died today after dogs attacked him at a Jurupa Valley property.
The mauling involved four dogs.
Animal Services officers responded to the property after receiving a call from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for assistance. Deputies arrived at the property at about 7:30 a.m. after someone called 911 with a report of screaming. The property is a residential home converted into a business and is located at the corner of Bellegrave Avenue and Martin Street.
The property owner was not present during the attack. When he arrived, he surrendered his dogs to Animal Services for humane euthanasia. Three of the dogs were Belgian Malinois and the fourth was a Cane Corso.
The victim’s identity has not been released. He was reportedly at the property to do some work for the owner. It was also reported that the victim did some prior work for the man and had been at the property previously without incident.
Riverside County Animal Services Director Erin Gettis called the mauling a horrific reminder for dog owners to be vigilant in keeping communities, dogs and people safe.
“This is a tragedy and our thoughts go out to this gentleman’s family and loved ones,” Gettis said.
