Virulent Newcastle Disease Update from State Veterinarian

This week brings some good news and, unfortunately, some disappointing news, as well. The regional quarantine is still in effect. For a list of virulent Newcastle disease cases since the outbreak began in May 2018, visit the USDA VND website.

Below is a one-minute video clip featuring two dogs we retrieved from a den of some type on Sunday. A tree may have been pulled recently and a large hole remained. Various critters must have been using the hole as a den – including these two stray dogs. More details about the call are below the link.

We also want to send our gratitude to our friends at Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire. Firefighters from Station No. 38 ensured the officers were safe during the rescue of the pups because there was some concern about the structural integrity of the den-like tunnel system.
