A wayward pig in Indio generated a lot of social-media buzz on Thursday after our friends with the Indio Police Department came across the wayward porcine on Thursday (Nov. 12) at about 6 a.m. The Indio Police social media post nicknamed the piggy “Carnitas.” Ahem! Ahem!
The police officer assisted responding animal control officer Paul Villanueva and he transported the female, 200-pound, pot-bellied pig to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms.
We’re so happy to report that the pig’s owners – Celso Bravo Rodriguez and his wife, Marisa Bravo – came to the shelter today to reunite with Charlotte (her real name; an apt name for a piggy for those fans of “Charlotte’s Web”). The young woman in the photos and video clips is Marisa Bravo. (She can be seen feeding Charlotte some treats (orange slices; Charlotte also LOVES tomatoes; Marisa told our team members that Charlotte is 3 years old and that they have raised her since she was a baby; Charlotte used to sleep in her bed!).
We’ll certainly miss Charlotte. She was very sweet to our team at the shelter and she only got to know them for a day and a half.
Here’s a link to some photos and video clips (below); if you would like original photos or the raw clips, please let me know and I can send those your way. (Riverside County Animal Services’ staffers Stephanie Castaneda and Marisa Sanabria assisted with the photos and video captures, fyi.)
