Healthy Iguana at Our Desert Shelter

January 9, 2017

A Good Samaritan brought in a handsome iguana today. The man had been caring for the almost five-foot long (tail included) reptile for roughly one month.

He tried to find the true owner while he was caring for it. But he came up empty in his neighborhood in The Cove area of La Quinta.

He brought the iguana into the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms earlier this morning.

We would appreciate any exposure the media can give this stray beast. The owner may have given up searching. But hopefully he or she will read about their iguana in the paper or see a story on TV.

Thank you so much!

Here are some photos, below; also have some additional short video clips. Please e-mail me or text me if you would like additional clips. I did not put them all here out of fear I/we would end up in your Spam folders.

My colleague and reptile expert Kim McWhorter is at our desert shelter today and can assist with holding the iguana for potential media interviews (Kim will be speaking; the iguana will probably just stare at the camera).
