TUESDAY, Nov. 25, 2014 – All county animal shelters are accepting donations for two separate, important charitable drives.

Donations of pet food are going to be accepted through the holiday season and those donated items will be distributed by the Animal Solutions Konnection (ASK) Foundation. The ASK Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has provided food items to needy pet owners in the Inland Empire. Once a large amount of food has been donated, the ASK Foundation will schedule a date to distribute the food to those in need.

The pet food can be wet or dry but should be in unopened bags or containers.

County animal shelters are also accepting toys and clothing for children who are cared for in the county's foster homes. The toy drive is being coordinated by the HOPE (Healing, Outreach, Prevention and Education) Collaborative (Child Abuse Prevention Council of Riverside County) under the nonprofit, Family Service Association.
