Pet Therapy Animal Certification
Your dog might make a good pet therapy dog if he/she:
- is calm and well behaved around people and other animals
- has good manners
- doesn't jump up on people or on furniture
- enjoys interactions with people
- is not afraid of lots of commotion or loud sounds
- obeys obedience commands (sit, down, stay and come) even when there are distractions
Studies have shown that visits from pets can have a positive effect on those who are sick, elderly or recovering from illness in hospitals and nursing homes. RCDAS is giving you the opportunity to learn more about non-profit pet therapy programs, and if you are interested, have your pet evaluated and possibly certified so you can help brighten the day of someone in need.

Pet Therapy Introduction Meeting
Learn about pet therapy programs and what is required to certify your pet as a therapy animal. We will discuss the necessary steps outlined by the Delta Society's pet partner program. The Delta Society is the largest pet therapy organization in the United States. Their certified pet therapy teams of dogs, cats, rabbits and other domestic animals visit countless hospitals, schools, and nursing homes all over the United States. This meeting is for the handlers only, so please leave your pets at home.
