Dog overpopulation continues to be a significant problem in Riverside County. During the first 6 months of this year, an average of 45 dogs entered our shelters everyday.
We ask residents that when they are ready to bring a pet into their lives, consider pet adoption at one of our shelters before going to the pet store or a breeder. Our shelters are full of wonderful, loving pets of every size and description. The Department of Animal Services wants to encourage people to spay and neuter their pets to prevent overpopulation and to license and micro-chip their pets so they can be returned if lost.
